Making contact

How can you make contact with a counsellor from SLACCS?

SLACCS has Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with the following adoption agencies:
If you have been approved as an adoptive parent or have had a child placed by one of the above named agencies, or if you are a birth parent or a birth relative who has been involved with one of the above named agencies, you may be able to access sessions from a SLACCS therapist with the funding provided by one of the above named adoption agencies.

If this is the case, then contact your social worker or the social worker for your child and request they make a referral to SLACCS.

The counsellor, having obtained some basic information about you, will contact you to arrange an appointment.

Sessions are usually arranged on a weekly basis, at a time agreed by you and the counsellor. Sessions take place in the individual consulting rooms of the counsellor, either in SW London or SE London.

Six counselling sessions are offered in the first instance. If you and the counsellor believe you would benefit from further sessions, this can possibly be extended after discussion and agreement with the local authority.

Sessions are confidential. The counsellor only feeds back to the local authority/adoption agency whether or not you have attended the sessions.

If you are an adoptive parent or birth parent or birth relative 'outside' one of these above named adoption agencies, you can still make direct contact with a SLACCS counsellor by telephone or email. Sessions will then either be on a private basis or funded by your relevant adoption agency if this is considered appropriate by the adoption agency.

If you are not accessing SLACCS Counselling through your local authority or adoption agency, then please contact one of the SLACCS partners.
